Are you knocking on the door of achievement, or just taking a back seat hoping and waiting? Well, we think Coach K can help you eliminate self-sabotage and enable you with the power to achieve your goals.

Today’s guest is Ben Kissam, otherwise known as Coach K.

Personal coach. Bestselling author. And the creator of the Coach K Show, we had a blast chatting with Ben as he was about to embark on his crazy European journey from his Boston patio (literally, you can hear some birds chirping).

  • [00:50] What makes Ben a #CreativeHustler? He's a personal coach, podcaster, writer, published author, and traveler focused on goal achievement and mindset. He helps his clients find strategies it to achieve goals.
  • [4:15] Ben is on a mission to eliminate self-sabotage. To eliminate that little voice within that says you're incompetent. When he was young, achievement become a club he couldn’t get into, a door he couldn’t break through. Self-sabotage is the mental side. If 1% of you is resisting change, that 1% is going to stop you from accomplishing what you want. It's about consistency, setting up a sustainable plan, and enjoying the process.
  • [6:57] Ben’s Morning Routine. Now, this is impressive. Ben wakes up at 4:30 am every morning and writes 2000 words or for 2 hours. Why, you ask? Good question.
  • [17:05] 12 cities in 6-7 weeks in Europe. As a coach, he feels he need to stay to his clients by understanding what it's like to be in the trenches and practice what you preach. This trip is to actively guide his own achievements and to grow the personal development within himself.
  • While Ben is traveling around Europe and Thailand he's staying connected with his clients by using Skype international.
  • Big fan of Evernote, Ben refers to Evernote as an extension of his brain. He uses it for pretty much everything. Remember this is the guy who writes 2000 words or for 2 hours every morning
  • Ben leveraged his social media network by meeting friends. Of the 17 out of 40 nights in Europe are free because he connected with someone via social media. Way to use your network! Nice work.
  • When Ben's 30,000 feet in the air w/ no wifi and no in-seat entertainment he breaks out the notebook and does guided writing exercises.
  • Ben is a HUGE meal time planner and religious with his workout regiment. He preps his meals for the week so he doesn't take time away from his work. But Ben is backpacking around Europe and SouthEast Asia for 5 months. How is he going to you balance meal and workout time while traveling?
  • [32:25] We asked ben how he traveling and experiencing different cities and countries and immersing himself in other cultures will impact him as a creative and global entrepreneur
  • He has one philosophy about this that's guiding him through his travels … You can only go as deep as you’ve been yourself.
  • [39:32] How is Ben staying centered as an entrepreneur? To him, the goal of achievement is to express who you are. It doesn’t matter how high you climb until you’re okay with yourself. He feels as though there is a cConstant controlled chaos inside of him.

Grant Cooper is from Philly. He’s the Ceo of a digital agency named social vantage. He started his business with his best friend in college 3 - 4 years ago. Grant is 23 years old. DAMN - Good job, my friend.

  • [00:40] Grant is an unbelievable ball of energy, holy awesome!
  • [3:19] If you’re healthy, it’s basically your obligation to get up in the morning, inspire, and get shit done.
  • Making good habits and surrounding yourself with good people
  • [5:35] The idea of meditation rooms becoming mainstream
  • [13:48] The importance of having a creative outlet. Grants creative outlet is picking up his canon 70d camera. That said, your creative outlet could be anything from nature, hiking, painting, videos, yoga, weight lifting, photography, etc.
  • [8:19] Grant uses Headspace to balance. Headspace is an app that’s come up quite a bit on The Creative Hustler. Even just a quick 10 minute session after a bad call or meeting helps keep him in the right mindset.
  • [9:07] Let’s just say there were neutral spaces for meditation with no premeditated agenda. Thoughts, Creative Hustlers?
  • [6:24] Even to get physically fit you have to make a mental decision
  • [20:00] Grant travels quite a bit. He’s learned how to adapt and understand people and different cultures. This has has a huge impact on his professional career because it’s taught him how to change messaging for different locations.
  • [21:13] And the segment that Melissa was so adamant about not recording because she thought we did already… how to pack clothes for travel… do you know how to fold your suit jacket on the go!
  • [21:29] The abrupt wrap up… who’s pea and who’s nut!
  • [22:13] Melissa’s moment of hustle

What's up, Creative Hustlers!?! Today we’ll be talking with Grant Cooper, the CEO of Social Vantage Media, a digital media agency he started with his best friend in college. Grant is an entrepreneur, hockey aficionado and all around creative hustler from Philadelphia.

[00:52] What makes Grant a Creative Hustler?

  • [1:48] Grant’s morning inspiration comes from being healthy and knowing his loved ones are healthy. He believes it’s your duty to get up in the morning and inspire others and get shit done. Making good habits and surrounding yourself with good people
  • [3:47] Grants creative outlet is his canon 70d camera or his g7x. He just gets up and starts taking shots. From inside his apartment and around the city.
  • [4:43] If inspiration doesn’t come, which rarely happens to Grant, he watches videos on YouTube of inspirational entrepreneurs and ted talks
  • [6:55] Vince Lombardi - “Winners never quit and quitters never win”
  • [13:42] Grant has found some great success with Teamwork, a project management tool perfect for his on-the-go team.
  • As a kid, he traveled quite a bit. He’s also learning some interesting tricks. Like, how to Learn How to Pack a Suit Like a Road Warrior. Haha!
  • [25:10] This next point Grant brings up is super interesting. Grant believes that the next big industry focus is going to be the mental health industry and meditation… just like you see a gym or physical fitness spot around, you’re going to start seeing meditation spots. Interesting topic indeed.
  • [31:40] Balance is in the eye of the beholder - how Grant stays balance as a #CreativeHustler
  • [38:25] All of his travel and experiences has helped Grant realize a few things about his business. One of those things being that each audience is different and you can not put the same message in front of every audience and expect the same results.
